Location

The face-to-face meeting will happen on October 23, 2008, at the San Jose Hilton in San Jose, California, hosted by Microsoft. This is a couple of blocks from the location of the AJAXWorld Conference and Expo (which is at the San Jose Fairmont).

  • Welcome and orientation
  • Introducing the new Steering Committee
  • Mutual introductions

General/Admin: 9:30-10:00

  • Short slide deck summarizing current activities
  • Discussion: WG Charters all expire in December 2008
    • PROPOSAL: Extend Interop WG to finish Registry and Hub 1.1
    • PROPOSAL: Extend IDE WG to finish OpenAjax Metadata spec
    • PROPOSAL: Don't renew Marketing WG
    • PROPOSAL: Add Mobile WG if we pursue anything tangible

2008 InteropFest 10:00-11:15

  • Review who did what
  • Show and tell

BREAK: 11:15-11:30

OpenAjax Hub 1.1 and mashable widgets: 11:30-12:30

  • Review current status
  • Discuss topics that have come up during InteropFest
  • Discuss next steps. Here is a PROPOSAL:
    1. Fast completion of Hub 1.1
      • Accelerated discussion and resolution of technical issues that have come up during InteropFest
      • Accelerated completion of features (window.name and postMessage) and test suite
      • Drive to completion in early 2009
    2. Work towards reconciliation of OpenAjax mashable widgets with Google Gadgets
      • Separate out "mashable widgets" into a separate add-on spec versus "standalone widgets" (used by IDE workflows)
      • Analyze relationship and develop reconciliation strategy with similar work at Google Gadgets, OpenSocial, and Shindig

LUNCH: 12:30-1:30

OpenAjax Metadata: 1:30-2:15

  • Review current status
  • Discuss next steps
    • PROPOSAL
      • Rename to OpenAjax IDE Metadata Specification
      • Focused on Ajax library metadata that feeds into Ajax IDEs
        • JavaScript API metadata (align with what Aptana/JSDT support)
        • UI controls from Ajax libraries (align with what Dreamweaver supports)
      • Put mashable widgets feature into separate follow-on spec
      • Drive to quick completion (early 2009)
      • Tasks before completion
        • Review Tom Trenka's XML format for Dojo (might result in changes to metadata spec)
        • Review which features from metadata spec are actually getting used, drop the ones that aren't being used
        • Complete editorial work on the spec

Registry/Conformance: 2:15-2:45

  • Review current status
  • Discuss Jon's proposal about turning Registry into a self-service utility
  • Discuss next steps
    • PROPOSAL:
      • Tweak Registry and Conformance specs to take self-service idea into account
      • Implement self-service web service software
      • Review, discuss, fix the software
      • Review, discuss, finalize, approve Registry and Conformance

BREAK: 2:45-3:00

Mobile Ajax: 3:00-3:30

  • Review Mobile Device APIs status (particularly, BONDI and W3C liaison)
  • Introduce and discuss Mobile Ajax Ready idea

Mashup single-signon: 3:30-4:00

  • IBM is interested in developing industry solutions around single-signon and delegation
  • Enterprise mashups need features beyond what OAuth provides
  • Discussion of member interest in this area

Other OpenAjax future activities: 4:00-close

    • Continue to work on Ajax tooling initiatives
    • Continue to work on mashup initiatives
    • If industry interest towards a particular deliverable around Mobile Ajax, charter a Mobile WG
