Minutes
Topic: Recent editorial fixes
(Jon reviews the following)
- Report on recent editorial changes
- Removed red-colored comments that we reviewed and resolved last week.
- Put JSDoc conventions into Introduction chapter (versus an appendix)
- Added "The JSDoc comments above fully describe this API. " to variable APIs in the Managed Hub APIs chapter
- Various editorial cleanups in Topic Names chapter
- Added new section to Containers chapter about URL parameters:
Jon: Everyone should keep the above recent changes in mind when doing editorial reviews and pay close attention to the sections that have changes recently.
Topic: Reconnect
Jon: Howard, you were going to review the spec to see if we have enough words about reconnect now, and if not, propose some new words
Howard: Wasn't able to do this. Too busy last week. I'll try to do it within the next couple of days.
Topic: refOrName
Jon: Javier, I see that the changes have been checked into the open source. Test case?
Javier: Not yet. I tested it manually. I think it's OK to add that test after Release Candidate.
Howard: Should have a test, but not necessary for first Release Candidate.
Jon: You can test the UnmanagedHub using the Hub 1.0 JSUnit test suite.
RESOLUTION: Will try to add a test for refOrName before next week, but OK to go Release Candidate without it
Topic: Who owns published data?
Howard: Who owns the data if you call publish? Can you continue to use the object. I think it makes sense that you can continue to use the object. Any opinions? Do we say that subscriber must treat publisherData as readonly?
Jon: Yes, we already say that.
Howard: OK, I think we are fine.
Matthias: What happens if the publisher changes the object after calling publish()
Javier: Inline is synchronous, Iframe will copy
Howard: So, no issue
Howard: I'll add something to the spec that publishedData belongs to the caller
Wrapup
Jon: Anything else?
Howard: There might be a race condition. Was reported by a colleague. I need to talk to them.
Next meeting: Tuesday May 26
Jon: Shifting back 24 hours. Next Monday is a holiday in US
