Minutes

Topic: InteropFest 1.0

(Jon repeated the summary of this topic from the agenda.)

(Jon explains how there will be a press release for AJAXWorld that lists companies that have participated.)

Chris: Makes sense.

(Jon asks if any comments about the booth placards. No comments or objections.)

Erwan: Do we have commitments from 20-30 companies to participate or just projecting?

Jon: A little of both. First, assuming that companies that participated in March will participate again. Second, some commitments from new products and toolkits. Third, projection. But we won't get 20-30 if previous 12 participants do not update their examples. ICEsoft and ILOG were both participants in March.

Topic: OpenAjax stickers at AJAXWorld

Jon: Dylan suggested we might have member companies put an OpenAjax Alliance sticker on their AJAXWorld badges.

(general feedback that this is good if the sys-con people don't object)

DavidB: What would the sticker say?

Jon: I assume it would be the OpenAjax Alliance Member logo.

DavidB: Yes.

Jon: I have a fear that the time to do the print production aspects of the sticker might be too high. And maybe the cost, also. What I propose is that I first investigate the time and materials costs. If reasonable, then ask sys-con what they think.

(everyone: ok)

Topic: AJAXWorld talks on OpenAjax

Jon: Talked with Roger. There will be a general session on OpenAjax titled "OpenAjax Hub 1.0 and Beyond". I'll do the standard presentation on OpenAjax, but focus the talk on Hub 1.0. We decided that OpenAjax member companies could submit one-off talks on particular OpenAjax-related topics if they wish. For example, maybe a talk on security. So far, I am not aware of any such talk submissions.

Topic: White papers and magazine articles

(Jon summarizes current activities. There is a long white paper on Ajax Security that has been authored by the Security TF and now is being handed off to Marketing WG for review, editing and publishing. This will be our 5th white paper. Then there are 3 proposed articles to be included in the print edition of AJAXWorld magazine that will be available in September. Deadline around Aug. 15. Each article should be 1000-1500 words. 3 proposed articles: OpenAjax Alliance Update, OpenAjax Hub 1.0, and a subsetted paper on Ajax security.)

DavidB: What's are the readership numbers for the magazine?

Jon: Don't know. I believe they mail the magazine in addition to distributing it at the show, but I don't know how they get their list.

DavidF: I can do an editorial review of the security white paper. Just copy editor, not a content editor. I don't know much about security.

Jon: That's great. We have several security experts that have worked on the content and reviewed each other's words.

Jon: Erwan, ILOG helped out with editorial review in the past. Can ILOG help again this time?

Erwan: I have already sent in a request.

Jon: Maybe DavidF could review the longer security article and ILOG could review the magazine articles.

Jon: DavidB, I was going to ask IBM to review the magazine articles.

DavidB: I talked with Kelly earlier. This is likely to happen.

Jon: I will probably have drafts of the 3 magazine articles by Monday. If people could review the articles between then and Aug 15, that would be great. We can talk about the articles in our phone call in 2 weeks, and then ship off on Aug 15.

(various people: sounds fine)

Topic: Next meeting

In two weeks - August 14.
