Subject: [OpenAjaxMobile] Anyone willing to host the W3C/OpenAjax Alliance
	Mobile Ajax Workshop?

There are plans underway to have a workshop on Mobile Ajax sponsored
jointly by W3C and OpenAjax Alliance. We are looking for someone to host
the event. Our Steering Committee has discussed this workshop and feels
that the best location is Silicon Valley so that we can maximize
participation by the Ajax development community.

Is anyone interested in hosting the workshop? My guess is that we need a
room for 2 days that fits 100 people. We were thinking about the 3rd week
of June (June 18-22), but W3C requires 60 days notice, so we might need to
push it back. Ideally, refreshments would be available at the breaks and
lunch would be provided or available nearby.

It is OK to volunteer if you have a room that is someone else in the world
besides Silicon Valley.

Hi Rhys (and people on the Mobile Task Force email list),
As you can see, the ball is rolling on the Workshop on Mobile Ajax. I am
hoping that many of the people on this mailing list will:

* Submit position papers to the workshop
* Attend the workshop
* Volunteer themselves for the Program Committee

Being on the Program Committee probably won't be too much work. In my
experience, position papers are usually short, so it probably won't take
much time to perform the associated duties. Nevertheless, the Program
Committee is very important to maximizing success for the workshop by
showing good judgment about which position papers are presented to the
attendees, as this will definitely affect the discussion that occurs.

Hello OpenAjax participants,

The W3C has posted the announcement for the upcoming Workshop on Mobile
Ajax that will happen on Sept 28. Here is the URL:

This workshop is jointly sponsored by W3C and OpenAjax Alliance and hosted
by Microsoft (thanks to Bertrand Le Roy and Microsoft) at its Mountain View
campus. The two program chairs are Daniel Appelquist of Vodafone, who is
highly active in the W3C Mobile Web Initiative, and myself. We are counting
on strong participation among the OpenAjax members, and in fact set set the
date and time for the workshop to maximize convenience for the OpenAjax
membership. (The Mobile Ajax workshop will be the day after our next
OpenAjax face-to-face meeting, which will be Sept 27, also hosted by
Microsoft in Mountain View.)

The workshop provides a great forum for people to express their vision for
Mobile Ajax to the community, and thereby influence future activities at
the W3C and OpenAjax Alliance.

We are looking for volunteers who will join the workshop's Program
Committee, where one key role is to review a subset of the submitted
position papers and make recommendations about which position papers should
be presented during the meeting. If you would like to volunteer for this
task, please send me a private email.
