Just a word of caution. What is referenced in the email is not, as the email subject suggests, the W3C's geolocation API.

To be clear, the W3C has no such API. The W3C is currently working on a charter for a group to deal with the design of such an API, and while the chartering activity is going on, Matt Womer (who is W3C staff responsible for drafting the charter) has invited contributions and comments. The link in the email (below) is a contribution from a member of Google's Gears team. Other contributions, suggestions and comments are expected.

The argument about the scope, deliverables, modus operandi and other matters pertaining to the proposed W3C working group on Geolocation is ongoing. If you are interested, follow the public mailing list here:

I hope this clarifies.

Subject: [OpenAjaxMobile] W3C's geolocation API

Here is the spec:

* http://dev.w3.org/geo/api/spec-source.html

I like their API and suggest that we model our APIs in a parallel manner. Kai told the W3C that he likes their API, also. What does everyone else think?
