Minutes taken by David Todd

Jon working on cache inspector new features

Jon combined headings & landmarks into same cache.

Created a forms cache.

Will add ARIA to forms cache this week.

Toolbar: new control -> tables button, headings landmark button, links button added

Headings & landmarks are shown as a tree.

nhoyt has left moznet (Client exited)

There is a headers and landmarks tab.

Under controls is a tree view of the forms.

Tab for labels

Tab for a linear list of controls.

There's a bug in color contrast.

Jon will put up a new copy after the call today.

Combining the headers & landmarks cache will simplify rules.

pbale has left moznet (Ping timeout)

After cache implementation, rules won't have to calculate much. The cache will just have to be checked and a message provided.

pbale (chatzilla@moz-5B24A39F.rehab.uiuc.edu) has joined #oaa-accessibility

We are going over the rules that we covered last week.

/member/wiki/WCAG_2.0_Principle_1_Perceivable_Rules

Addressing rule for non-text content.

If role="presentation" on image, alt should be alt="".

Removing role="presentation" from image rule with alt="".

File name extension should not be part of the alt text. For now, we'll leave this as a violation. We will see if testing proves that this should be a recommendation.

Discussing: If the ALT attribute contains content, it must be between 6 and 90 characters long, longer descriptions should use long description techniques (English only)

Concerns about the limits 6 and 90.

Will change upper limit to 120 for French.

Jon will test English sites to see if the 90 upper limit is appropriate.

Changing upper limit to 80 after discussing.

If the table is a data table, it must have a caption element.

Grid isn' t considered a data table.

Caption element must have content.

Should element checking and content checking of the element be separate rules?

Leaving content length at 1 character for moment.

Start discussion of unique caption content.

Captions must be unique.

Discussing: Requirement 1.3.1 Info and Relationships

Each data table must include column and/or row headers: The first cell in each column must be a th element, and/or each row must contain at least one th element.

That was the current rule in FAE
