scribe Ann Abbott
Jon: has started updating the OAA web site
Jon: Next OAA call will be June 11 due to vacations/holiday
TOPIC: Updating rules controls files
Jon: has updated Control1 thru Control4
Jon: also has updated the nls file for associated rule
Jon: CONTROL_1
Jon: updated to describe properties of the rule
Jon: Element rules would be "N/A" if none of the elements exist on the page. Page rules apply to every page.
Jon: will make a difference in reporting
Nick: wondering if some content belongs in nls file?
Jon: would add more complexity to nls file, ie translation
Nick: maybe in separate file that doesn't get translated
Nick: will think more about this
Jon: helpful to keep in file when writing rules. A third file would make this more difficult
Nick: thinks it is possible for 'target_objects" and "cache_dependency" to get out of sync
Nick: agrees this is important information as cache may store more objects than the rule looks at
Nick: recommends changing "target_objects" to "target_resources"
Nick: recommends cache_properties updated to "computed_label"
Nick: conceptual model lists "language dependency" instead of just "language"
Nick: https://trac.ainspector.org/design/wiki/interaction-design/conceptual-model
Nick: language dependency = language(s) this rule depends on
Nick: updating Conceptual model to remove "none" from language dependency.
Jon: update is fine
Jon: only rule with language dependency is length of alt text
Jon: the less language dependency = ease of maintaining rules
Jon: enabled=true/false needs to be part of rule mapping
Jon: removed enabled from rule
TOPIC: Updating nls files
Jon: for each rule there is an entry for the rules object
Jon: required=MUST, recommended=SHOULD, conditional=MAY
Jon: will remove code for conditional as we have no rules for it
Nick: important if envision the use of type=conditional in future
Nick: thinks important to consider in future
Jon: rules are either required or recommended. If recommended, is manual check, so we don't need conditional.
Nick: fail maps to corrective action in conceptual model
Jon: changing Fail to Corrective Action
Next OAA call
