Jon: Web site is ready to go. Waiting for coordination with press release. We request that everyone wait on their press releases until the next week after the initial press release that IBM is sending on behalf of OpenAjax Alliance.
Joe: I will start sharing the news at the end of this week so press can happen when the web site goes up. Two quotes so far, Zoho and Nexaweb.
Erwan: Did you get my quote?
Jon: I will forward it to Joe.
Joe: Three so far, including ILOG. Strongly encourage everyone to send quotes. Deadline on Monday.
Joe: Changed press release to list all members, not just new members.
Joe: Week of Sept 25 is best time for your press releases. Prevents press from being inundated with too many calls.
Jon: Any objections to plan?
Erwan: Fine with me.
Topic: Discussion/feedback on Steering Committee election process (first-draft proposal)
Erwan: Election sounds fair and simple.
Coach: Looked at it last week. One question, when is voting?
Jon: Meeting starts on Thursday. Voting closes previous Tuesday at midnight.
Erwan: Just to be sure. To have right to vote, you must sign Members Agreement. Just one vote per company.
Jon: Yes, but to clarify. Each company has a single primary contact who gives the vote or specifies someone else to give the vote.
Jon: Any questions on nomination process?
Andre: Just add your name to nominations page.
Jon: Yes. I have heard of a few companies that are interested but I have no idea how many nominees will appear.
Topic: Discussion/feedback on face-to-face meeting agenda (first-draft proposal)
(Jon runs through agenda)
Coach: How will panels be organized?
Jon: Everyone on panel gives a short presentation. Then open discussion.
JohnJ: Like in May?
Jon: Maybe. Depends. In May, each presentation was followed by discussion on that presentation. We might get a cluster of speakers on overlapping topics, in which case we might instead hold most discussion until after all speakers in a session.
Erwan: Need help preparing?
Jon: Are you volunteering?
Erwan: Yes.
Jon: Great. One thing that comes to mind are moderators for panels.
Andre: I volunteer to help.
JohnJ: I can help too.
Erwan: Just drop an email to Marketing Committee and state your needs.
Andre: Unclear what panels are about.
Jon: Like May. But you weren't with us then. Short talks then discussion. But attempt to cluster talks together.
Andre: Invited experts OK?
Jon: Yes, certainly for panels.
Andre: Maybe change title for products. Products -> Developers.
Jon: Make products into developer tools.
Topic: Approval of quote for OpenDomain press release
Joe: Only thing is to send back to OpenDomain the week after our press release. Did not want their press release at same time as ours.
Ted: I don't see the issue for not changing to openajax.org now.
Jon: We don't have full control yet. Domain registrar control is still with opendomain. Stays true until latter part of September. 60 waiting period.
Joe: OpenDomain press release isn't saying that we are going to switch our primary domain, only that they have donated the domain.
Ted: whois shows the registrant is you.
(discussion of risk, consideration for google rankings)
Andre: If it were me, I would have press release after switch to openajax.org
Erwan: Same
Adnre: And I would just use Openajax.org now.
Jon: I was just being super careful. Hearing strong feeling to use openajax.org, is there anyone who objects to switching to openajax.org right away?
Ted: I think the move now makes us stronger should there be any questions.
Andre: He has transferred the domain and has a press release announcing it. Go ahead.
Joe: Makes sense. Compelling arguments.
RESOLUTION: Will use openajax.org as primary url when web site is launched.
RESOLUTION: Approve quote for opendomain.org press release, but don't submit quote until end of week when our press release goes out.
Topic: Market Overview Whitepaper - progress report
- Market Overview Whitepaper: http://www.openajaxalliance.org/member/wiki/index.php/Market_Overview_Whitepaper
Jon: Mid-way check. Who has done what and who plans to do something?
Erwan: Have done nothing yet.
Andre: Alexei will spend some time starting next week.
Ted: I am planning to go over it, but haven't scheduled it yet.
JohnJ: Same.
Topic: Member logo (i.e., current logo with the word "Member" at the bottom)
- See new version of logo with "member" (or MEMBER) at bottom Logo ideas
Jon: Does anyone have a compelling short-term need, such as within a month?
?: Sooner the better, of course, but no urgency.
Topic: AJAXWorld needs logo for cover
Joe: Need a hi-res image for AJAXWorld.
Ted: Suggest two files. Both with transparent backgrounds. One for light backgrounds and one for dark backgrounds.
?: Good suggestion.
Jon: I will ask Dylan about this. (EDITORIAL NOTE: Jon has asked Dylan and Dylan says OK to use the Photoshop files we have already. The standalone logo on the logo page is good for light backgrounds. Extract layers from web site Photoshop file for dark backgrounds.)
RESOLUTION: Make two official logos per Ted's suggestion
