Minutes
Starting the Open Accessibility Alliance
* Coding practices: rules, techniques, examples and rule test examples * http://collaborate.athenpro.org/group/open-accessibility-alliance/ * Register: http://collaborate.athenpro.org/accounts/register/
JG: Groups have symbiotic relationship. Allows this group to focus on rules, rulesets, libraries http://collaborate.athenpro.org/group/open-accessibility-alliance/teleconferences/
NH: Open Ajax is focusing on rules - that will continue. The other group Open Accessibility will focus on coding practices - how to fix problems. http://collaborate.athenpro.org/group/open-accessibility-alliance/
JG: Also design resources. Something for developers to find good, easy to understand information and examples of what to change in their code (when a problem is found)
New version of OAA Accessibility Extension 2.0.24 Alpha
MJ: Some questions on OAA Accessibility Extension
Discussion on opening of sidebar - initially does not open enough to view all of the columns and text in message boxes.
JG / NH: This could be due to other sidebars that have been used - an issue w/ the browser where it keeps previous sidebar width - regardless of the extension - so may not be able to force that in the OAA Accessibility Extension
MJ: Also noticed that button states did not seem to toggle off (Triage, Categories, WCAG 2.0)
JG: Been more focused on the rules themselves - will clean up these types of issues afterward.
MJ: Checking ibm.com (transitional ruleset, A and AA) - found 7 violations for 2.4.6 - Rule 70 "Headings must be descriptive"
JG: It appears those elements are currently hidden so it should not be a violation - looks like it may be a bug.
NH: Disabled "Show Hidden" in the preferences and they still show up.
JG: Will check that rule out
